I am excited to announce that we have the opportunity to distribute tickets to be present at the visit of His Holiness Pope Francis. On September 24, Pope Francis will become the first sitting pope to address a joint session of Congress. Following the address, His Holiness will make a brief appearance on the steps of the U.S. Capitol facing the West Lawn.
To witness this historic event, my office will be offering two tickets per county in my district through a lottery. These tickets will grant their holders admission to watch the Pope’s address on jumbotrons on the West Lawn of the Capitol. The tickets are standing-room only, not for His Holiness’ address inside the House Chamber. We cannot guarantee sightings of His Holiness as he passes through the crowds, and ticket holders will be responsible for any transportation, lodging, or trip expenses.
Interested individuals should fill out this form by Sept. 9. A random drawing will take place in my Washington, D.C., office Sept. 10, and ticket recipients will be notified that same day.
Entrants should include the county in which they live and may provide up to one additional name to be included in the lottery. Only constituents of Texas’ 28th Congressional District are eligible.
Should you have any questions, please contact my Washington, D.C., office at (202) 225-1640.
