Congressional Report Dear Friend,I hope you had a safe, restful and happy Thanksgiving. I'm grateful for the time I was able to spend with my family, but now it is time to get back to work for the American people. Today, I'll be heading back to Washington D.C. in order to continue fighting for a relief package that puts hard working families first, strengthens small business programs, and increases access to coronavirus testing in all of our communities.  In the district, my offices continue to participate in community events, working with local leaders and organizations as well as helping constituents with any issues they may be facing with federal agencies.  As always, I urge you to follow me on social media to stay up to date with the latest news in our area.

Congressional Report

Dear Friend,

I hope you had a safe, restful and happy Thanksgiving.

Rep. Cuellar Attends Webb County Sheriff's Office Luncheon

Sheriff Luncheon 11.24.20

On Tuesday, November 24th, I joined local law enforcement officers at the Webb County Sheriff’s Office Thanksgiving Luncheon. While there, I chatted with officers and first responders - listening to the ongoing challenges they've been facing as we continue to battle the pandemic. This luncheon was a safe and wonderful way to appreicate and thank the many brave men and women who work hard to protect our neighborhoods.

Pleasanton's Newest Coffee Shop

Pleasant Perk Coffee House
Pleasanton Perk HC Tour

On Monday, November 30th, my Constituent Services Representative/Outreach Coordinator, Kendall Hayes, attended the grand opening of Pleasanton Perk Coffee House. Kendall presented owners Kyle and Samantha Kermling with a Congressional Certificate of Recognition to celebrate the big moment for this small business.

Earlier in the month, I stopped by Pleasanton on my 'Thank You' tour and was actually given a sneak peak of the coffee house while still under construction. I remembered being pleasantly immersed with a warm, welcoming feeling upon walking in! Although I couldn't be there for the grand opening, I look forward to grabbing a hot cup of coffee the next time I'm in town.

Rattler Drive Ribbon Cutting in Rio Grande City

Virtual Rattler Drive Ribbon Cutting

That same day – further south to the Rio Grande Valley - my Outreach Coordinator for Starr and Hidalgo Counties, Nicolas Cruz, virtually attended a ribbon cutting for the opening of Rattler Drive in Rio Grande City. This project will help decrease traffic congestion, support current businesses, and allow for new businesses to be constructed along the route.

Open Enrollment Deadlines

Open Enrollment Deadlines

Don't miss out on two major open enrollment deadlines this month:

  • The 2021 ACA open enrollment period in the United States has begun and runs until December 15th, 2020. For more info on applying, visit healthcare.gov.

  • The 2021 Medicare open enrollment period is up until December 7th, 2020. For more info on applying, visit Medicare.gov.

I encourage all South Texans to research plans and find one that works best for them and their family. In addition, I advise families with current health insurance plans to check the rates and coverage of their plan to ensure it is still the best fit for them.

Did you know there's a difference between quarantine and isolation? Knowing when to do one over the other can help ensure that you protect yourself and those around you from COVID-19.

In this week's video, the CDC breaks down the meaning of both and how to do so effectively. Remember, the best way to slow the spread is to wear a mask, wash your hands, and practice social distancing.
