Congressional Report

Dear Friend,

After an eventful month in Texas, I am headed back to Washington D.C. to pass bills that will expand the national apprenticeship system, increase access to quality child care and improve care for our nation’s veterans.

This past week, I resumed my 'Thank You' tour and visited various cities throughout our nine counties. It was great to be able to meet with the many elected-officials, community leaders and constituents to discuss what matters most to them and what their legislative priorities are for the 117th upcoming Congress.

My district staff continues to safely attend events. As always, please reach out to any of my offices if you need help with federal agencies.

Stay safe. Stay strong. Wear a mask.

Rep. Cuellar Wraps Up Thank You Tour

On November 5th, I set off on a ‘Thank You’ tour through every county in the 28th Congressional District of Texas after the 2020 election. Throughout this tour, I have met with local officials and constituents in various cities to discuss what issues are important to them for the new year.

This ‘Thank You’ tour was a great experience. The people of South Texas are welcoming, compassionate and incredibly hard-working, fighting every day to improve the lives of their family and community. Together, we will continue to strengthen our district, providing more opportunities for hard working families. Thank you District 28 - we've got a lot of work ahead of us, so let's get back to it.

Texas Citrus Fiesta Vaquero Cook-Off

On Saturday, November 14th, my Outreach Coordinator for Starr and Hidalgo Counties, Nicolas Cruz, attended the Texas Citrus Vaquero Cook-off in Mission. Since 1932, the city has annually celebrated the bountiful winter harvest of grapefruits and oranges from the Rio Grande Valley. The Texas Citrus Fiesta takes pride in promoting the values of education, leadership, and the community. While practicing CDC health guidelines, Nicolas enjoyed some great food and even better company.

On Friday, November 13th, my Outreach Coordinator for Atascosa, Bexar and Wilson Counties, Gilbert Lafuente, attended the grand opening of the Bexar County ESD #10 facility. At the grand opening, Gilbert presented a Congressional Certificate of Recognition to honor this new location - which will serve the southeast boundaries of Bexar County.

ACA Open Enrollment

#GetCovered for 2021

For over ten years, I have remained steadfast for the health and financial security of hard-working families by working to strengthen the Affordable Care Act. As our nation continues to face the coronavirus crisis, there has been continued effort to eliminate the lifesaving protections of the ACA, which poses a devastating threat to the people of Texas and all Americans. At this time of uncertainty, I will continue to fight for every American to ensure they receive the critical medical care that they and their families need to stay healthy and safe.

The 2021 open enrollment period in the United States has begun and runs until December 15th, 2020. I encourage all South Texans to research plans and find one that works best for them and their family. In addition, I advise families with current health insurance plans to check the rates and coverage of their plan to ensure it is still the best fit for them.

Something as simple as wearing a mask can save lives. Show that you care for one another, by taking the proper precautions to slow the spread of COVID-19.
