Dear Friend,
First and foremost, I want to say thank you to the people of the 28th Congressional District of Texas for giving me the honor of representing you once more in Congress. It is a privilege and a duty I never take lightly.
I'd also like to congratulate President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on their historic victory. With the election now over, we shall put hostility and anger aside and work to heal this nation. We need to come together, not as Democrats or Republicans, but as Americans.
With this new chapter beginning, we will restore civility, decency, and compassion across our country. We will defeat this virus and build back our economy. We will protect and expand the Affordable Care Act to make sure everyone has access to quality health care. We will implement strong and smart border security that does not include an ineffective and wasteful border wall.
There's a lot to be done, but it's nothing the American public cannot overcome. Let's get to work.
As always, I encourage you to connect with me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Stay safe. Stay strong. Wear a mask.

On Saturday, November 7th, my Outreach Coordinator for Starr and Hidalgo Counties, Nicolas Cruz, attended a BBQ Drive that the City of Mission put together to honor our nation's veterans. While there, Nicolas was able to meet with organizations that provide veteran targeted services, such as local support groups.
Pictured is a line of cars ready to take part in the BBQ Drive thru.

For over ten years, I have remained steadfast for the health and financial security of hard-working families by working to strengthen the Affordable Care Act. As our nation continues to face the coronavirus crisis, there has been continued effort to eliminate the lifesaving protections of the ACA, which poses a devastating threat to the people of Texas and all Americans. At this time of uncertainty, I will continue to fight for every American to ensure they receive the critical medical care that they and their families need to stay healthy and safe.
The 2021 open enrollment period in the United States has begun and runs until December 15th, 2020. I encourage all South Texans to research plans and find one that works best for them and their family. In addition, I advise families with current health insurance plans to check the rates and coverage of their plan to ensure it is still the best fit for them.

We have been battling the coronavirus for months now and at times it can be easy to forget all the CDC health guidelines that keep ourselves and our loved-ones safe. We must remain vigilant and continue following these simple practices: - Wear a face covering;
- Practice social distancing 6 feet apart;
- Wash hands often, and;
- Stay home when ill
Over a 100 years ago, the world faced the 1918 flu pandemic and saw the benefits of caring for one another by implementing these guidelines. Let's learn from history and ensure that we protect our future.

As we get closer to the winter months, I want to remind everyone that it is recommended that those 6 months and older should receive a yearly flu vaccine.
In this week’s video, the CDC explains their tool: VaccineFinder. This resource is a free, online service where users can search for locations that offer vaccinations. Use the VaccineFinder tool to locate a flu vaccine near you, by visiting VaccineFinder.org.
Vaccine Finder is a tool from Boston Children’s Hospital in partnership with CDC, Harvard Medical School, and HealthMap.
