CONGRESSMAN HENRY CUELLAR ANNOUNCES $375,000 GRANT FOR LaSALLE COUNTY

WASHINGTON, D.C.Congressman Henry Cuellar announced today a $375,000 grant for La Salle County for the construction of an Emergency Operation Center. The money comes from the Department of Homeland Security – Emergency Operation Center Grant Program.

With the money, LaSalle County will construct the emergency command center, which will include classrooms, training rooms and administrative offices.

“This grant will certainly go a long way to help address emergency situations in La Salle County,” said Congressman Cuellar. “This is a win-win situation for all. Not only will the county be better equipped to respond to an emergency, but the local economy will also benefit with the creation of new jobs.”

“We want to thank Congressman Cuellar for his continuous support and for helping us find funding for this center,” said La Salle County Judge Joel Rodriguez. “This center will be built in a strategic location; it will not only assist LaSalle County, but nearby counties as well.”

The LaSalle County project is one of 22 facilities that were funded nationwide as part of the 2008 EOC Grant Program. For information on federal grants, contact Congressman Cuellar’s Office at 202-225-1640. To learn more about Congressman Cuellar, log on to www.cuellar.house.gov.
