Immigration reform may be on hold, but a change has been made to allow more immigrants into the U.S. temporarily.

Republicans and Democrats have been behind the changes that were made to the appropriations bill for this year.

The changes affect the H2-B work visas for temporary workers for low skilled jobs.

It would not raise the cap of 66,000 immigrants a year, but it would change the definition of a current and returning worker.

By doing that, more immigrants could be granted this work visa in order to help some states meet their labor demands.

"So, they only support certain things that would be good for their districts. Since their districts are saying we need temporary workers for landscaping,

forestry, seafood restaurants, constructions. So, they're going to support that", said Cuellar.

Congressman Henry Cuellar says these changes are beneficial to the economy of the state whether Republican or Democrat.

However, these changes do not indicate a shift in the GOP's stance on immigration reform altogether.
