Discussing the Importance of the U.S.-Mexico Border Economy

I met with a panel, including fellow Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D-TX16), on Feb. 3 at the Wilson Center in Washington to talk about the impact and importance of the U.S.-Mexico economy on the border.

Meeting with McAllen Delegation About Border Infrastructure

Members from the McAllen Delegation and I met recently in D.C. to discuss border infrastructure at our bridges and ports of entry. Working with Gov. Abbot's Office for TX28

On Feb. 3, my Chief of Staff Cynthia Gaona met with Jerry Strickland, Executive Director of the Office of State and Federal Relations for new Texas Governor Greg Abbot to discuss the shared goals of new Texas Governor Greg Abbot and District 28.

Meeting with SBA and HHS to discuss the Affordable Care Act

The Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) visited with my San Antonio District Office last week to discuss issues regarding the Affordable Care Act. These federal agencies have worked with my office and community organizations to provide information on the ACA and health care enrollment.

ACA Workshop in Rio Grande City

My office hosted an Affordable Health Care workshop on Jan. 31 at the Starr County Courthouse Annex in Rio Grande City. Several families made the decision to get health coverage via HealthCare.gov. The deadline to apply for coverage is Feb. 15.

Intern Spotlight

Clarissa Perez is an intern at my Laredo District Office. She is currently a senior St. Augustine High School and decided to intern with my office because she was interested in helping her community.

Clarissa plans to go to college soon and study either public relations or law.
