Dear Friends,

This past week, I was back in the district visiting with constituents and meeting with local leaders on various projects.

I invited Ambassador Arnold Chacon, Director General of the Foreign Service and Director of Human Resources at the State Department, to a career day at Texas A&M International University in Laredo last week so that he could personally see the talented and diverse group of college students and working professionals in South Texas from which the Department could recruit.

I also met with Texas Transportation Commissioner J. Bruce Bugg, along with local and state leaders in Laredo, to discuss transportation funding for our Ports of Entry and highways.

In Laredo, I met with a delegation from Germany to discuss ideas on border security and immigration and met with students in Laredo to encourage them to pursue careers in law.

In San Antonio, I spoke to the State of Texas Association of Rheumatologists about the importance of the work they do in healing Texans in pain.

My district staff in the Valley attended the grand opening of the Texas Department of Public Safety office in Rio Grande City.

Lastly, you can read about the great work my interns are doing in my office and watch a video from the Internal Revenue Service about filing an extension for your tax returns if you need more time.

As always, feel free to contact my district offices if you have any issues with a federal agency.
