Environment

Developing a balanced and responsible environmental policy is one of Congress’ most important tasks.  We owe it to our children to work towards a policy which protects our natural resources while also encouraging growth, so that they might enjoy the same prosperous, beautiful country that we enjoy today.

I believe that we can protect the environment while increasing economic development opportunities in the state of Texas. Both are of vital importance to ensuring the continued enjoyment of the beauty of our state while leading prosperous lives. One such way is to support the development of research into alternative energy methods that helps to mitigate our impact upon the climate. I have worked with my colleagues in the House to promote research into the feasibility of alternative forms of energy such as wind and solar energy in South Texas. I also support efforts to develop renewable sources of energy such as ethanol, bio-diesel, and cellulosic technologies as a means of renewing our energy independence.  I believe these sources of energy can be developed in a way that will be of benefit to everyone in the United States through the reduction of pollution, and keeps our environment pristine for the enjoyment of future generations.
